Stirling Moss Spider Instrument Panel
This prestigious client was producing a “limited edition” luxury sports car in a very limited run of 75 cars.
The Client brief:
To produce an instrument panel that utilised vacuum forming techniques combined with polyurethane over-moulding processes that not only excelled aesthetically, but also provided functionality with full airbag deployment.
The solution:
Thermotec developed simple, cost effective yet purposeful tooling that gave a repeatable and compliant product, saving the client thousands of pounds from traditional tooling methods.
ROPS (Roll Over Protection System) for Military Seating
The Client brief:
To offer a “comfort pack” polyurethane cushioning system that would not need to be upholstered, was robust with regular troop activity, comfortable, and would still operate at temperatures of –60 Degrees Centigrade.
The solution:
A “future-proof” design was developed to ensure that the product was fully removable.
Bull Bar
The Client brief:
Original bull-bar designs for frontal protection systems were usually constructed from heavy gauge tubular steel. Whilst this protected the vehicle, there was an inherent danger to pedestrians, which led to new legislation effectively restricting their use on road going vehicles.
The solution:
Thermotecs protection bars are pedestrian friendly, constructed from an ABS plastic inner substrate overmoulded with polyurethane foam. You can see our products on most of the volume utility vehicles currently on the market. We supply them with either an “A” surface finish, or pre-primed, ready for colour matching to the vehicle.
